Top domestic cricket tournaments in India

There are a total of six major domestic cricket tournaments in India. These tournaments have been played for so many years in Indian cricket history. So many players started their careers from these tournaments. From these tournaments, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy are the limited-overs tournaments. Vijay Hazare is the 50 overs matches and the Syed Mushtaq Ali’s trophy is the 20-20 overs format. Apart from that, the remaining are the test format tournaments. Let’s see one by one all of these tournaments.

Ranji trophy:-

Ranji Trophy is Indias greatest first-class tournament organized by BCCI. the first edition of the Ranji Trophy is organized in 1934. The name of the tournament is given on behalf of Ranjitsinhji. he is an Indian ruler in the Indian princely state of Nawanagar. He played for England. 

Many players of the Indian cricket team started their career from the Ranji trophy like Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul Dravid.

Irani Cup:-

First, the Irani cup is called the Z.R.Irani cup. Now it is called an Irani cup. This tournament started in 1959-60 years. For completion of 25 years of the Ranji trophy. The tournament is played between two teams. The Ranji Trophy winner and the Rest Of the India team played each other for the Irani trophy title. The Rest Of India won most of the title in Irani Cup. they won 28 times the Irani cup.

The current champion of the Irani cup is Vidarbha. Wasim Jaffer scored the most runs in the Irani cup he scored 1,294 and Padmakar Shivalkar took the most wickets in the Irani cup that is 51. The first match of the Irani cup was played between Bombay and the rest of the India team. And Bombay managed to win that match and won the first-ever Irani cup. Irani trophy is one of the popular tournament in Indian domestic cricket

Deodhar trophy:-

Deodhar Trophy is One Day format tournament which is organized by BCCI. The tournament is played between three Indian teams. That is India A, India B, and India C.the Selection of the Indian main team is obtained from it. The current winner of the Deodhar Trophy is the India B team. They lost team  India C by 51 runs 

The trophy was first organized as an inter-zonal tournament in the 1973-74 years. from that, the north zone won the most titles of the Deodhar Trophy.

Vijay Hazare trophy:-

The Vijay Hazare is also One Day format tournament which is organized by the BCCI. it is also one of the most popular tournaments in Indian domestic cricket. Vijay Hazare is also one of the most popular tournaments in Indian cricket. It is also called as Ranji Trophy ODI format. Tamil Nadu is the most successful team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. followed to that Karnataka is the Second most Successful team.

Tamil Nadu won the 5 titles in Vijay Hazare Trophy. The tournament started in the 2002-03 year.

Duleep trophy:-

Duleep Trophy is one of the oldest tournaments in Indian first-class cricket. The Duleep trophy name was given to the tournament on behalf of Kumar Shri Duleepsinhi. In 1961-62 the first Duleep trophy was organized by BCCI. the first winner of the Duleep trophy was the west zone they defeated the south zone by 10 wickets

The most successful team in the Duleep trophy in the north zone and west zone both the teams won 18 titles till now. from 2016-17 the format of the Duleep trophy was changed. now the format of the trophy is a round-robin tournament. The three teams play with each other and the top two teams in the league stage play the final. The current winner of the Duleep trophy is the India Red team

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy:-

Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy is one of the big tournaments in Indian first-class cricket. It is twenty 20 formats of cricket.  It was started in the year 2006-07. And it is organized by BCCI. the name was given to the tournament on behalf of famous Indian test cricketer Syed Mushtaq Ali. the first winner of the tournament is Tamil Nadu who won under the Dinesh Kartik Captaincy.

The Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujrat, and Broda are the most successful teams in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy they all have won 2 titles each.

NKP Salve Challenger Trophy:-

It was a List A cricket tournament in Indian cricket. the first started in the 1994-95 years. It was named after the former president of BCCI N.K.P.Salve. The tournament was played between three teams India Blue, India A, and India B. the first name of India Blue is India seniors. The format of this tournament is knockout type.

 BCCI Corporate Trophy:-

BCCI Corporate Trophy is also a great tournament in Indian domestic cricket. The corporate Trophy is organized by BCCI.this tournament is basically a 50-over game. In this tournament, the Indian players are expected to play with academy players and those who play domestic cricket regularly. 

The main motive behind this tournament is to promote employment to Indian domestic cricket players. the winners of this tournament receive 10 million and the runner-up receives 5 million.

Inter-State T20 Championship:-

This tournament is organized by BCCI when India became the 20twenty playing team. The first match was played between India and South Africa after that this tournament is organized. Total 27 teams play in this tournament of different zones. The first final is played between Punjab and Tamil Nadu. this tournament is later replaced by the Indian premier league.

These are the top domestic cricket tournaments in India. Which are organized in different ways. The format of these tournaments is different.
